After many months of waiting following a delay in 2020, gamers will finally be able to play Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch from tomorrow, the 9th of March. The launch happens to be coinciding with the start of the game’s Chaos Theory Collection Event. Plus, it includes a range of bonuses and incentives for new Switch players.
Tomorrow’s Apex Legends Switch Release
Apex Legends’ long-awaited Nintendo Switch release was first announced more than nine months ago. Originally, the port was expected to release in late-2020, alongside the game’s Steam version. However, just prior to that initial date, Respawn announced that the release of the Apex Legends version of the game would be delayed to 2021. A new release date was eventually given in late-February, confirming the 9th of March.
As the Apex Legends Switch launch comes shortly after the start of Season 8, Respawn will be giving new Switch players a few boons to help them catch up. For example, all players will get 30 free levels automatically granted to their Season 8 Battle Pass. In addition, for the next two weeks, all Switch players will benefit from double XP in all Apex Legends matches. This should help new players catch up to those on other platforms. After all, those players have been able to play Season 8 for several weeks already.
Players should note that the Switch version of Apex Legends will have full cross-platform play functionality from launch. (And, of course, full feature parity with all other versions of the game.) As such, Switch players will be able to play with friends on any other platform. Finally, as an added promotion, Respawn will be launching a new Legendary Pathfinder skin exclusively for Switch owners. Anybody who boots up the game between the 9th of March and the end of Season 8 (4th of May), will automatically unlock Pathfinder’s new red-and-white “P.A.T.H.” skin.
