The Apex Legends Genesis Collection Event – the first Collection Event since the start of the Legacy season – is now just two days away. Starting on the 29th of June, this two-week event will feature the return of the original Kings Canyon map and much more besides!
The Apex Legends Genesis Collection Event
Following the format which players should be familiar with by now, the Apex Legends Genesis Collection Event will be focused around collecting exclusive event cosmetics. Alongside an event reward track with 7 special cosmetic items of its own, the events “Collection” includes 24 limited-time cosmetics. Players who obtain the full set of 24 will get a brand-new Revenant Heirloom set for their efforts; a high-tech, collapsible scythe.
The headline feature of Genesis, however, is the return of Kings Canyon. This isn’t just the return of a classic map, however. The version of Kings Canyon coming in Genesis is the original layout; the map as it was prior to all the changes which have been wrought upon it since launch. This will be the first time that original map has been playable for an extremely long time. The Season 3 World’s Edge map will be playable during the event as well. (Also with the changes from more recent seasons temporarily rolled back.) Respawn is referring to this as the “Legacy Maps Apex Takeover”. The classic Skull Town location from Kings Canyon will be added to the map rotation as a new map for Apex Legends Arenas during Genesis too.
Players hoping to get their hands on the Revenant Heirloom, or just some of the new cosmetics, will need to collect Genesis Event Apex Packs. Each pack is guaranteed to contain 1 event item (50% Epic, 50% Legendary). They also hold 2 non-event items (70% Rare, 20% Epic, 10% Legendary). Alternatively, all 24 items will also be available via direct purchase. Some new store bundles will also be available for a short time during the event as well.
