With December approaching, Respawn has today announced the impending return of the Apex Legends Holo-Day Bash event, which will offer players a month-long special event featuring sales, new cosmetics, and a special reward track. This seasonal event is due to begin next week, on the 1st of December.
The Apex Legends Holo-Day Bash 2020 Event
Although the Apex Legends Holo-Day Bash 2020 event doesn’t start for another week, Respawn is getting things going early with Black Friday sales. Every week from today, the 24th of November, through to the 4th of January, the studio will be featuring different sales discounts in the in-game store. These will include discounts on completely new cosmetics. The big headline feature for the Holo-Day Bash, however, is Winter Express. This limited-time game mode first featured in last year’s Holo-Day Bash, and this year it will be available throughout the event, until it ends on the 4th of January.
“The train is back in World’s Edge just for Winter Express,” writes Apex Legends System Designer Mark Yampolsy; “and this time it’s not the only vehicle descending into the valley around Epicenter. The supply ships from Kings Canyon are also flying around the frozen explosion.”
Winter Express is, indeed, a little different this year. In this iteration of the mode, when your squad respawns after the end of a round, you will respawn on your own flying supply ship which follows the train along its route. Whichever squad won the previous round will spawn on the train itself. As such, they will be positioned as defenders facing off against a wave of attacking squads. There is also a new station; Derailment. This new area offers a way for players to quickly move under the train to attack from a different direction.
Of course, the Holo-Day Bash event also features its own Rewards Track; another new addition since last year. As with previous Reward Tracks, this allows players to complete various event challenges in order to earn XP and unlock bonus rewards, including all-new winter cosmetics for Bloodhound and Horizon.
