Although Respawn plans on bringing the Apex Legends Kings Canyon back to the game later this season, the studio has brought it back early as of today, although only for a limited time. The map, which is currently available to play, will only be available until Monday. After that, it won’t be returning until the end of March.
When You Can Play on the Apex Legends Kings Canyon Map
The original Apex Legends Kings Canyon map hasn’t been available in-game since the start of Season 3, when Respawn first launched the World’s Edge map. However, starting today, the classic map is making a brief return; it is currently available to play alongside World’s Edge. Interestingly, this is actually the first time that more than one map has been available to play in Apex, outside of those available for limited-time, non-standard game modes. Of course, Respawn plans to take Kings Canyon away again after the weekend, on the 24th of February.
After that, Apex Legends players won’t be able to play on the Kings Canyon map again until the 24th of March. On that date, the first half of Ranked Series 3 will be coming to an end. With the start of the second split, a soft reset will be applied to all players’ ranks, giving latecomers to ranked play a chance to catch up. The second split of Series 3 will also change the ranked mode map from World’s Edge to Kings Canyon.
At that point, the older map will be available to play throughout the second half of the series, until it ends on the 5th of May. At present, it’s unknown whether Respawn will be retiring the map again at that point. However, that does seem quite likely. (Particularly if they plan on releasing a third map with the start of Season 5.)
