Apex Legends Season 2 is just a couple of days away, and that means players will soon get access to an Apex Legends Season 2 Battle Pass. The new Battle Pass is a little different to that of Season 1, however. In a recent post on the game’s official website, Lead Product Manager Lee Horn offered fans an explanation of the new daily and weekly challenges which are coming with the Season 2 Battle Pass.
How Challenges Work With the Apex Legends Season 2 Battle Pass
When Apex Legends Season 2 begins on the 2nd of July, players with the Battle Pass will get access to new daily and weekly challenges. According to Horn, these were designed based on player feedback from Season 1; “We heard your feedback on the Season 1 grind,” he says; “and created a system which should allow for significantly greater Battle Pass progress with less grind over less time for players who return on a regular basis and maximise their Challenge resets.”
The daily and weekly challenges will provide players with a new avenue to earn XP to level up their Battle Pass. Interestingly, Horn notes that the developers are focusing on variety, fun, and greater simplicity, clarifying that; “none of this Season’s challenges will require a YouTube tutorial to figure out.” Effectively, over half of the weekly challenges will provide players with an entire Battle Pass level when they complete them. Those that don’t, including the daily challenges, will instead grant STARS. Horn specifies that STARS are XP specific to the Battle Pass. As a result, while they will increase the Battle Pass level, they won’t increase a player’s Account Level.
Daily and Weekly Challenges in Season 2
Players will get three new Daily Challenges each day during Season 2, which will come from a random pool. Although repetition is possible, there are apparently over 200 possible challenges, so most should be different. Completing a daily challenge will grant players 3,000 STARS. Note that your progress on daily challenges resets at the end of each day, so you won’t be able to come back to a previous day’s challenges.
At the start of a new week, you’ll also get 7 Weekly Challenges. Four of these challenges will reward players with 6,000 STARS each. The remaining three will reward players with a full Battle Pass level upon completion. Unlike daily challenges, you can actually go back to previous week’s challenges. If you start Season 2 late, you’ll immediately get the current week’s challenges plus all previous weekly challenges.
Finally, there will be three extra Weekly Challenges each week. These are always the same, and unlike the other weekly challenges, progress towards them does reset each week. The first will always be; “Complete 5 Daily Challenges,” while the second will always be; “Complete 10 Daily Challenges.” The third and final challenge will always be; “Earn 9,000 STARS and/or match XP.” Completing each of these challenges each week will reward players with a full Battle Pass level per challenge. However, note that the amount of XP required for the third challenge will increase the amount required for the next iteration of that challenge every time you complete it, up to a maximum of 54,000.
