Following the release of a Season 3 cinematic trailer yesterday, Respawn today released a new Apex Legends Season 3 gameplay trailer; one that gives fans a better look at how much of the upcoming content will look in practice. The trailer features Crypto, the new Legend, as well as the Charge Rifle, and also showcases much of the new map, World’s Edge.
Apex Legends Season 3: Crypto, World’s Edge, and the Charge Rifle
Apex Legends Season 3 ‘Meltdown’ is due to begin on the 1st of October, alongside the second Ranked Series. Of course, a new season also heralds a wealthy of new content for the game, and it looks as though fans will be getting even more than was added with Season 2. The new gameplay trailer gave fans a glimpse at how Crypto will play, utilising some sort of aerial reconnaisance drone. However, exact details for his abilities have yet to be released. The video did more clearly show the Charge Rifle in action, however; the new weapon coming in Season 3. The Charge Rifle was an anti-Titan weapon in Titanfall 2 which seems to have been given some tweaks for its addition to Apex Legends.
Of course, perhaps the biggest reveal of the trailer was a series of clips of World’s Edge, the brand new map coming in Season 3. This marks a major addition for Apex Legends, which has only had one map since launch; King’s Canyon. Although that map has gotten several reworks and additions in the last few months, the addition of World’s Edge will give players a massive new area to explore. (Not to mention more gameplay variety in general.) Indeed, it’s a key factor that may well help Respawn to actively promote Apex Legends; a strategy which they appear to be pursuing alongside the Season 3 launch.
Fans now only need wait a couple more days before they can try out the Season 3 content for themselves. While there will be a new Battle Pass, the game is still free-to-play. As such, if Respawn succeeds in drawing both new and returning players to try out the game for its new season, they could see a notable increase in their active player numbers. For now, only time will tell.
