Ahead of the upcoming release of Apex Legends Season 3 Meltdown on the 1st of October, Respawn has released a major new launch trailer which both reveals and confirms a variety of new content. Of course, while the trailer does heavily feature Crypto, the new Legend, the big new reveal was that of World’s Edge; a new map on a completely different planet.
What’s Coming in Apex Legends Season 3 Meltdown
Apex Legends Season 3 Meltdown is due to begin on the 1st of October, along with the second Ranked Series. Like Season 2, Meltdown will add a new Legend and a new weapon; Crypto and the Charge Rifle, respectively. However, while Season 2 brought a major rework to King’s Canyon, Season 3 is bringing a completely new map. Earlier this month, a leak suggested the introduction of lava- and ice-themed content. At the time, it was thought to be for another King’s Canyon rework. Now, the trailer makes obvious that it refers to the World’s Edge map.
“Welcome to World’s Edge,” reads the launch trailer description; “a new Apex Legends map where molten heat and chemical ice collide. Join our cast of Legends – including the newest Legend, Crypto – on the dropship as they’re whisked away from Planet Solace towards World’s Edge on Planet Talos.”
October is set to be a huge month for Apex Legends. The launch of the new Season is likely to boost the game’s player count, and Respawn appears to be aiming to capitalise on that. Two retail editions of the game will be launching for the first time in mid-October, further marketing the game to both new and returning players. Of course, the new and improved Ranked Series may also draw players back to the game. Plus, Respawn is likely to continue running events like Voidwalker; a format which seems to have proven successful for short events in the free-to-play title.
