Apex Legends Season 6, officially entitled “Boosted,” is finally live and is now available to play. The new season brings with it Rampart, an all-new Legend, as well as a whole host of new content and mechanics. Indeed, it serves to introduce a brand-new crafting mechanic to the game which could prove to be the most significant new addition of all.
What’s New in Apex Legends Season 6?
Of course, the headline addition of Apex Legends Season 6 is Rampart, the newest member of the Legends roster. Offering a defence-oriented playstyle, Rampart has the ability to deploy cover walls which improve the damage of shots taken from behind them. Her Ultimate also allows her to deploy a Minigun turret which can actually be used by any players, not just Rampart. As a result, Rampart can quickly transform almost any space on the map into a defensive stronghold.
In fact, World’s Edge has also gotten some upgrades which align with this defensive style. Launch Site, Countdown, and a third new site all boast new blast walls. These can be raised and lowered via control panels within the sites, allowing players to erect defensive barricades when they arrive. As a result, these sites are all well-suited to serving as temporary footholds, allowing players to dig in and fend off enemies before moving on.
Season 6 also features the introduction of the Volt, a brand-new Energy SMG, as well as a new crafting system. Players will now be able to gather Materials from around the map and bring them to special Replicators. These printing machines can turn raw materials into one of eight different loot items. The exact loot available at each Replicator will be changing on a daily or weekly basis. Finally, Season 6 also features a big change to the way armor works in Apex Legends. From now on, all armor except Gold Armor will be Evo Armor. Moreover, all players will drop into matches with Level 0 Evo Armor already equipped. However, to counterbalance this, all armor now has 25 less health than before.
