With today’s release of ‘Promise,’ a new episode of Respawn’s Stories From the Outlands series, the studio has announced a range of content which will be launching as part of Apex Legends Season 7. Alongside Horizon, the next upcoming Legend, Season 7 will feature the launch of the game’s third map; the airborne city of Olympus.
Apex Legends Season 7: The Olympus Map
Thus far, Respawn hasn’t revealed many details about this new map. However, the city plays a background role in the new episode of Stories From the Outlands, as the home of Dr. Mary Somers. However, in the intervening century, a disaster of some sort appears to have befallen Olympus. At the end of the episode, Horizon looks out over what appears to be the city in ruins, with a vast vortex of sorts dominating the view.
Beyond that brief glimpse, fans will have to wait for Respawn to release a more details look at the new map. According to the studio, Olympus is; “a beautiful, lush city in the clouds,” and they also warn players to; “watch their step — it’s a long way down to the planet below”. This suggests that Olympus is airborne in some fashion, either hovering in the skies of a planet or in low orbit over it. The map is also reportedly very large, although it’s unknown how the size compares to King’s Canyon and World’s Edge.
One major feature of the Olympus map is the Trident. Once again, Respawn has yet to reveal details, but from what little has been teased, the Trident appears to be a vehicle of some kind; possibly Apex Legends’ very first pilotable vehicle. “Olympus is a big place,” writes Respawn; “Cover ground fast with the Trident. Plenty of room for the whole squad!” Whatever the case, players should stay tuned for more details to emerge in the coming weeks as the launch of Season 7 approaches.
