Today, Respawn launched Apex Legends Update 3.1; their first major update since the start of Season 3. The update enables a new limited-time Duos mode and brings a much-requested new Firing Range mode, but also includes a host of quality of life improvements. Plus, the update disables penalties for abandoning Ranked Mode matches, although only under certain conditions.
What’s Included in Apex Legends Update 3.1
With the end of the Fight or Fright Collection Event, Respawn has rolled out Apex Legends Update 3.1, a major quality of life update. The biggest new additions are, of course, the new Firing Range and Duos modes. However, the update does include some other notable improvements. The L-STAR, Longbow DMR, Kraber, G7 Scout, and all shotguns, for example, have gotten a slight increase to projectile width in order to make them “easier to hit with”.

When it comes to challenges, players are now guaranteed to get an easy, medium, and hard challenge each day, so that the range of challenges available is more balanced. Plus, players can now spend Legend Tokens to reroll their daily challenges. Your first reroll will cost 200 Tokens, your second will cost 500, and any reroll after that will cost 1,000 Tokens. This cost system resets on a daily basis. Other quality of life improvements include the following; players can now adjust cursor velocity in the settings menu; the active Music Pack is now shown on the map loading screen; players can now view their squadmates ammo types while in the inventory menu.
As for Ranked Mode play, the new update disables the penalty which players receive for abandoning a match. However, this only applies if they leave a match after 2.5 minutes since their Banner was picked up after dying. Note that a warning will display if leaving a match will result in a penalty. If this warning doesn’t display, you’re safe to leave the match.
