Ahead of the upcoming launch of Apex Legends Season 6 – Boosted, Respawn has released a new episode of Stories From the Outlands; the periodical video series which gives fans a glimpse at the backstories of the game’s Legends. In this case, the episode focuses on the new Legend coming in Season 6 – Rampart.
Stories From the Outlands: The Endorsement
Whenever Respawn releases a new Legend with the launch of a new Season, the studio typically releases an episode of Stories From the Outlands. Similar episodes have been released for Wattson, Crypto, and others, along with the rather infamous one starring Forge. Rampart’s one, however, covers a brief look at her backstory and then the moment when she was recruited for the Apex Games by Blisk; a rare appearance for the Apex Games’ founder and former Titanfall 2 villain.
The video also gives fans an indication of some of Rampart’s abilities and play-style. Most notably, it featured her deploying a gatling gun -style weapon behind a protective shield; something which also appeared in the recent Season 6 trailer. As such, this weapon looks likely to be her Ultimate; perhaps in the style of a stationary defensive turret. Rampart also used explosives and traps to defend her workshop, perhaps indicating a defensive focus for her playstyle.
Apex Legends Season 6 is due to begin on the 18th of August (next Tuesday). Alongside Rampart, the season will feature the release of a new weapon; an energy SMG called the ‘Volt’ (another returning weapon from Titanfall 2). In addition, Season 6 will include ‘Crafting’ – an all-new gameplay mechanic. It’s currently unclear exactly how Crafting will work in-game, but Respawn has indicated that players will be able to craft gear of some sort by collecting materials from around the map. No doubt the studio will release more information on this new feature ahead of the Season 6 launch date.
