Yesterday, Ubisoft officially announced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – the long-rumoured upcoming Viking installment in the long-running franchise. Valhalla is due to launch later this year, sometime in “Holiday 2020,” and will be launching on both current-gen and next-gen consoles, as well as on PC. Note that on PC, the game will be exclusively available via the Ubisoft and Epic Games Stores. With Valhalla presumably only 6-7 months away from launch, Ubisoft has understandably made pre-order options available right away.
There are four editions of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for you to choose from, if you’re looking to pre-order the upcoming historical RPG; the Standard Edition, Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition, and Collector’s Edition. Here’s everything you need to know about each one, including their retail prices. Follow the link in each section to pre-order on the Ubisoft Store.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Pre-Order: Standard Edition
First up on our list is, of course, the Standard Edition of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. As to be expected, this is the cheapest option, but it also doesn’t come with any extra features. However, Ubisoft is still offering a pre-order bonus which is included with all four editions of the game – if you pre-order, that is. This pre-order bonus is an extra in-game mission called; “The Way of the Berserker”. Ubisoft hasn’t detailed what this mission is, or how long it will be, but it’s still a good incentive to pre-order.
The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Standard Edition is currently available to pre-order for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC for $59.99. The Ubisoft Store doesn’t currently offer the option to pre-order for the Xbox Series X or PS5, but these options will presumably be added at some stage. After all, Ubisoft has announced that the game will be launching on both of the next-gen consoles. While the Valhalla announcement trailer made no mention of it coming to the PS5, Ubisoft has since confirmed that it will indeed be coming to the console, alongside its launch on the Xbox Series X.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Pre-Order: Gold Edition
The next option after the Standard Edition is the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gold Edition. As before, this game will come with The Way of the Berserker mission if you pre-order. However, the Gold Edition also includes the game’s Season Pass, ensuring that you’ll get all of the DLC as and when it releases post-launch. Presumably, a Season Pass will be available to purchase separately once the game releases, if you don’t buy the Gold Edition. It’s currently unknown how much DLC there will be for Valhalla, but if Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is any indication, the game will have no shortage of post-launch content.
The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gold Edition is available to pre-order for $99.99. As before, you can currently pre-order for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on the Ubisoft Store. Next-gen pre-order options should arrive at a later date.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Pre-Order: Ultimate Edition
For those gamers who are willing to spend a bit more money on in-game extras for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft is offering the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Ultimate Edition. Like the Gold Edition, this version of the game comes with the Season Pass and the pre-order bonus mission. However, you’ll also get a selection of extra bonus content. More specifically, you’ll get three exclusive cosmetic packs and a “Set of Runes” which can be used in-game.
First up, the Berserker Gear Pack includes two cosmetic outfits, a shield, an axe, a wolf, and a raven. Presumably, the latter two are skins for animal companions which you acquire in-game. The Berserker Settlement Pack features five different items which appear to be cosmetic options for the player’s Viking settlement (as opposed to worn cosmetics). Finally, the Berserker Longship Pack appears to offer a unique ship cosmetic. The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Ultimate Edition is available to pre-order for $119.99.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Pre-Order: Collector’s Edition
Finally, if you have $200 to spend, the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Collector’s Edition is the biggest pre-order bundle available for the upcoming game. As you would expect, this version of the game comes with the Season Pass and pre-order bonus. It also features all of the content from the “Ultimate Pack”; the extra content bundle which you get with the Ultimate Edition. However, the Collector’s Edition also includes a host of physical collectibles and extra items.
Most dramatically, the Collector’s Edition includes a 30cm-high figurine of Eivor, the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. (It should be noted that, just like in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Valhalla’s can be either male or female.) This figurine also features Drakkar, Eivor’s raven companion, as well as the prow of their longship. You’ll also get a smaller 5cm Viking statuette of Eivor and Drakkar in the Collector’s Edition. Plus, you’ll get an exclusive steelbook, a set of 3 lithographs, a selected soundtrack CD, and a premium certificate of authenticity. If you want to get your hands on all of this, the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Collector’s Edition is available to pre-order for $199.99.
