Battle Royale Mode May Be a Feature in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Lately there have been a lot of rumors going around about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and now we’re hearing about one of the most exciting possibilities yet—a Battle Royale mode to be developed by Raven Software.

A number of online publications (including Eurogamer, Kotaku and Charlie Intel) have reported that they have received tips about this, so it seems like a rumor which is well worth taking seriously.

You may have heard that Treyarch will not be putting together a single-player campaign for the game. Activision has yet to confirm this, but it seems entirely believable. Right now, Battle Royale style games are a big deal, so we would expect to see COD following the trend set by successful games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. If that means scrapping single player in favor of Battle Royale, it does seem like a decision that could pay off.

Black Ops 4 is set to release on October 12th. According to the source that spoke to Eurogamer, there is a chance that the Battle Royale mode would not be fully ready by the time the game releases. It might function, but not yet be able to support 100 players. Presumably if that is the case, updates will be released later so that 100 players can battle it out.

There are similar rumors right now surrounding a possible Battle Royale mode to be included in Battlefield V. This is not a surprise since Battlefield and Call of Duty are major competitors. We’ll keep you posted on both games right here on VGR, so check back with us soon.
