Battlefield 2042, the next big Battlefield title from DICE, features a major anti-cheating software known as Easy Anti-Cheat. For months, DICE has been confident in the strength of this system; offering assurances that it will keep cheating to a minimum once the game launches. However, almost immediately after the Battlefield 2042 Beta went live, reports of cheaters began to surface.
Battlefield 2042 – Cheaters & Easy Anti-Cheat
Of course – and unfortunately – no anti-cheating system is going to be totally foolproof. However, the speed with which cheats began to circulate online for Battlefield 2042 is somewhat discouraging. Wallhacks, aimbots, and other basic cheats were all reported in the Beta within its first couple of days, despite the presence of Easy Anti-Cheat. IGN, in fact, was able to identify at least three cheat providers online offering access to cheats for a very minimal daily fee.
However, while cheaters were present in the Beta, fans should note that it was in far fewer numbers than the recent Call of Duty: Vanguard Beta. Instances of cheating in the Vanguard Beta were much higher, precisely because cheats were accessible online for free. Given that the only Battlefield 2042 cheats require a payment to access (albeit a minimal one), the number of cheaters does appear to have been lower.
Fortunately, not all of DICE’s anti-cheating measures were actually active during the Beta. As part of DICE’s Fair Play commitment, all players will have the ability to report cheaters mid-game. However, this particular feature has not yet been implemented in Battlefield 2042. As such, it wasn’t available to use during the Beta. When the game launches, that system may help to curb the number of cheaters somewhat. Additionally, work is ongoing to improve Easy Anti-Cheat. Hopefully, DICE will be able to keep cheating to a relative minimum in Battlefield 2042’s future.
