The fourth chapter of Battlefield 5’s Tides of War is soon to release, with the next upcoming patch set to bring a host of new content to the game. Of course, Chapter 4 is bringing several major new content releases to the game. Of these, the first significant inclusion is that Chapter 4 will add a total of four new maps. The first of these is the Battlefield 5 Al Sundan map, which is set in North Africa. However, DICE has now stated that the map won’t feature Conquest at launch; Battlefield 5’s primary game mode.
Why the Battlefield 5 Al Sundan Map Won’t Include Conquest at Launch
Although Battlefield 5 Chapter 4 is expected to release very soon, quite possibly before the end of June, no formal release date has yet been announced. One reason for this may be the last-minute discovery of a bug with the Battlefield 5 Al Sundan map. According to DICE, pre-release testing of Al Sundan revealed that Conquest mode can cause the game to crash in the new map. The news was recently posted on Reddit by one of the game’s Community Managers, explaining the situation.
“Our intention was to kick off Chapter 4 with the release of Al Sundan,” explains Redditor PartWelsh; “a brand new map that’s brought from the War Story ‘Under No Flag‘. Testing of the update has revealed that when playing the map on Conquest, there are instances of crashing that we’re not happy with. We’ve made the decision today to hold back the release of Al Sundan on Conquest whilst we investigate and fix this.”
PartWelsh went on to explain that DICE is still testing other modes, including Squad Conquest. The studio is hoping to release Al Sundan with those modes available sometime this week. Conquest will presumably come a bit later, once the bug is resolved. The development team will still be releasing Update 4.0 this week as well; the first major game update of Chapter 4. This will be bringing a variety of balance changes, tweaks, and fixes ahead of the start of the new Chapter.
