Fans of games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite will be excited to hear that there is a possibility that a similar Battle Royale mode could make its way to Battlefield V. As many as 100 players could fight it out in this mode until a single team or victor remains.
This rumor comes from an anonymous source which originally reported the tip to VentureBeat. According to the source, DICE is currently trying to figure out whether the mode could function. If they discover it can, they may choose to make it part of the game, but likely not as part of the initial release. Integrating the mode will take more time and work, and delaying the launch is not an option.
If DICE and EA do agree to move forward with it, the Battle Royale mode might be included as a free update for Battlefield V somewhere down the line. But it is possible that EA will decide to do something entirely different with it. They might include it in a separate, unrelated game (Star Wars Battlefront springs to mind), or they might just create a brand new game around it.
This rumor does seem like it holds a possible grain of truth, since the big competitor with the Battlefield franchise is of course Call of Duty, and similar rumors are circulating about a Battle Royale mode to be included in Black Ops 4.
