For quite some time, Battlefield fans have been wanting the ability to play custom games. Now, at last, it seems that DICE will be giving players that power. Battlefield 5 Community Games, as they are called, will let players set up custom servers with their own settings, including custom playlists, sandboxes, and more. They are due to arrive as part of the game’s next update on the 9th of December
The Upcoming Battlefield 5 Community Games
“Designed for those who want more personalised multiplayer experiences, Community Games will let you create and play on customised servers with specific settings,” explains DICE; “Maybe you want to create a playlist rotating only Pacific maps? Perhaps you’re a content creator who prefers your own personal Battlefield 5 sandbox to create stunning videos? We’ve designed Community Games to bring something for everyone.”

The new Battlefield 5 Community Games are due to launch on the 9th of December. (Their addition will be part of a free update.) In-game, players will be available to find them via the multiplayer menu, below the ‘advanced search’ option. This new option will allow players to set up their own Community Games server; a server which they then have significant control over. You’ll be able to create and join private games, set up matches and playlists with your choice of maps and modes, and set the number of rounds for each match, for instance. Plus, you can set server passwords, and, if necessary, kick or ban players.
Additionally, DICE has revealed that “some” of the Battlefield 5 game modes which are only periodically available will be available in Community Games. Presumably, this means modes like Rush, for example. So, even if these modes aren’t available in the standard rotation, you’ll still be able to play them in Community Games. Additionally, all your vehicle, weapon, and rank progression will continue in Community Games, but only if you’re playing on servers that aren’t password-protected.
