On the 30th of April, DICE added the first two Battlefield 5 Elites to the game; Seamus Byrne and Ernst Schubert. Now, two more Elite characters are available for players to purchase and play as in multiplayer and Firestorm. This pair are Hanna Delacroix and the German explosives expert Wilhelm Franke. Like every Elite, Franke comes with a unique signature melee weapon, voice lines, and more.

When DICE added Battlefield Currency, the real-world currency option which can be spent on cosmetic micro-transactions, they also introduced the concept of Elites. These Battlefield 5 Elites are effectively cosmetic character bundles; each one is a named individual with a short backstory. They have unique cosmetic items, voice lines, a Best Squad animation, and a single Special Assignment. If you complete this assignment, you will unlock their signature melee weapon, such as Delacroix’s Poignard. Of course, they don’t offer any tangible in-game benefit, but they are much more distinctive than most of the game’s cosmetic options.
Wilhelm Franke is a German explosives expert who is now available for use by players on the Axis side. His signature melee weapon is the Naval Dagger. Indeed, the Nazi Kriegsmarine (Navy) often carried elaborately gilded daggers as a sign of rank, and they are now considered valuable military antiques. “If it can be destroyed,” says DICE; “Franke will find a way to do it. A ruthless combatant, his straight-forward manner commands respect from his squadmates, even if they have to maintain a safe distance. Bold, unflinching, seizing the initiative, Franke sets out to fulfil every mission requirement to the letter. He has a reputation of seeing explosives as the solution to every problem. Possible hearing damage.”
Wilhelm Franke and Hanna Delacroix are now available for players to purchase with Battlefield Currency and use in Battlefield 5. Elites are usable in both multiplayer and Firestorm.
