More than a year after its release, Battlefield 5 is still going strong, and heading towards its fifth chapter of post-launch content. (A season which looks likely to be its largest yet.) Perhaps in an effort to entice new players ahead of that upcoming release, DICE is offering gamers free access to the game on PC for the next few weekends through several “Battlefield 5 Free Weekend Trials“.
The October Battlefield 5 Free Weekend Trials
The Battlefield 5 Free Weekend Trials aren’t actually limited to just weekends; they begin on Thursday and then run throughout the course of a weekend. There will be one starting this week, on the 17th, and then another next week starting on the 24th. They are only available on PC via Origin, so unfortunately the event doesn’t extend to consoles. If you don’t have the game installed, you can pre-load it at any point ahead of the events.
The Free Weekend Trials don’t include the entire game, but they do include enough to give players a taste of what both single-player and multiplayer is like. Different multiplayer game modes will be available each weekend, while Squad Conquest and all of the single-player War Stories will also be available. Plus, any progress you make in the game will carry over if you choose to purchase the full game at a later date.
All of this is just a part of Battlefest, the latest celebration of the Battlefield community. This month-long event is spanning the gap between Chapter 4 and 5 of the game’s post-launch content seasons, and features weekly challenges with unique item rewards. While Battlefield 5’s launch was not without its troubles, plenty of new content has come to it in the year since. Plus, of course, DICE has had a year to iron out any major bugs and problems. As such, now may be a perfect time to give it a try, especially with Chapter 5 just around the corner.
