The Battlefield 5 Panzerstorm map was one of the big features of Overture, the first chapter of Battlefield 5’s Tides of War. The map, which is based on the Battle of Hannut, is one of the largest in the game and the one which features the most tanks; not surprising for a map based on what was, at the time, the biggest tank battle in history! However, as of today’s new update, the Panzerstorm map has gotten a significant rework. The rework comes alongside new content for Practice Range, as well as a brand new Axis tank.
The New Battlefield 5 Panzerstorm Map Rework
“A while ago we released the map Panzerstorm and we’ve been super happy with how it’s been received by you, the players!” says DICE, in today’s full patch notes; “We’ve played with you and listened to your feedback and comments. We’ve also looked at the telemetry gathered from thousands of games played by millions. Based on all this, we’ve decided to make some changes to the map, both big and small.”
The biggest change coming to the Battlefield 5 Panzerstorm map concerns the F point. The Swine Farm has gotten several new buildings, causing it to quadruple in size! These aim to provide more cover around the point. A path of trees has also been put between points G and D. This should provide cover for infantry moving through that area. This is apparently part of something which the Battlefield developers call the ‘Arras treatment’.
“If you’re familiar with that map,” they explain; “you will now find more height differences along ridges, stone walls, and roads, as well as deeper ditches next to those roads. Lots of those changes are fairly minor but will add up to a more enjoyable infantry life.”
Some trees have been put in the area between A and D for more soft cover. The same ‘Arras treatment’ has also been done to the path leading from D to E. Interestingly, the house on point D has been turned around so that it can serve as a sniper nest. In addition to a few more soft cover additions and tweaks, numerous new Fortification points have been added across the map to help infantry dig in.
