Today, Rush returns to the Battlefield franchise in Battlefield 5, and will be available for at least the next two weeks. Just like with the launch of Squad Conquest towards the start of the Lightning Strikes chapter, Rush is available on three different maps; all of which are variants reworked specifically for Battlefield 5 Rush. The first of these is a rework of Devastation, the ruined version of Rotterdam.
The Battlefield 5 Rush Devastation Map Variant
The Battlefield 5 Rush game mode is a 16 vs. 16 player mode. The attacking team’s goal is to plant explosives on several objectives, located in the centre of the map, while the defenders must protect the objectives and disarm the bombs. The mode’s name, ‘Rush’ comes from the fact that both sides are racing to capture the objectives in the centre. As a result of this design, Devastation has been reworked into three sectors. As the attacking team destroys each set of two objectives, the defenders will be pushed back to the next sector.
“Three-floors of a bombed-out library separate attackers from their two comm station objectives,” says DICE of Devastation’s Sector 1; “Conquest players will recognise the first sector as Flag B, a maze of charged walls and rubble”. Meanwhile, Sector 2 is found at the cathedral; “The large and ominous cathedral houses the next two comm station objectives, found near the burning pyres. Objective B rests on the balcony while A is susceptible to multiple attack routes.”
The final area is Sector 3, where the defenders will attempt to protect the last two objectives. “To the east is the cinema,” says DICE; “ready for the final show. Whoever goes after objective A comm station is in the spotlight, as it’s found at base of the stage. Technically, objective B comm station is just outside the cinema, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect the same ruckus as waiting in line for opening night.”
