Today marks the return to the Battlefield franchise of Rush, a fan favourite game mode which first appeared in Battlefield: Bad Company. The new Battlefield 5 Rush mode will be available for at least the next two weeks, during which time it will be playable on three different maps. Just like Squad Conquest, Rush features three reworked map variants. In addition to Devastation and Twisted Steel, players can play Rush on a variant of Narvik.
Battlefield 5 Rush Narvik Map Variant
The Battlefield 5 Rush mode pits two teams of 16 players against one another. The attackers must plant explosives at two objective sites, while the defenders rush (hence the name) to protect them and disarm the bombs. With each pair of objectives destroyed, the attackers push into a new sector, until they clear all of the objectives.
“This starting sector is the familiar Flag E from Conquest on Narvik,” explains DICE, of Sector 1; “The tug-of-war is over two objectives in a small town. There’s no clear path to the A objective comm station, and defenders can guard from several avenues at different heights. Although the objective B artillery gun sits in the open, remember that clear lines of sight work both ways.”
From Sector 1, the attackers will push into Sector 2, deeper in the town. After taking down the next two objectives, Sector 3 forces the attackers to fight on two fronts; “The third sector demands a division of responsibility,” continues DICE; “as the two objectives are slightly further apart and nearly on the same defensive line. Attackers can navigate a series of Fortifications and water tanks to go after A, the comm station, or take on the artillery gun at objective B, flanked by two large homes”. Unlike Devastation, Narvik has four sectors instead of just three. Sector 4 takes place in the snowfields outside of the town, as the defenders protect two final artillery guns.
