All Battlefield 5 Shotguns and Sidearms Featuring at Launch

DICE recently released a complete list of all of the weapons, vehicles, gadgets, and more featuring in Battlefield 5 when the game launches. Players were aware of some of these due to their appearance in the open beta. However, this list now fills in the blanks for the rest. Shotguns and sidearms are the only firearms – besides towable weapons – which aren’t assigned to a specific class.

Battlefield 5 Shotguns and Sidearms Span 9 Different Firearms

The Battlefield 5 Shotguns are the only primary weapons not assigned to a class. All other primary weapon categories are only available to a single class; either Assault, Medic, Recon, or Support. At launch, there will only be two shotguns in the game. Although shotguns weren’t widely used in WWII, DICE is still likely to add more in post-launch content. The full list of Battlefield 5 shotguns is as follows:

  • M30 Drilling: “A triple barrel combination gun that leaves you more flexible than you would think. Use it as a double barrel shotgun in close quarters or change fire mode to the rifle barrel for medium range shots”. This little-known gun was issued to Luftwaffe pilots for use as a survival and hunting weapon. Only 2,456 were ever manufactured.
  • 12g Automatic: “Served in both world wars. It was the first successful semi-automatic shotgun used by the Allies, eventually inspiring the German army to create their own version”. The 12g Automatic is one of seven firearms in Battlefield 5 which also feature in Battlefield 1, where it’s assigned to the Assault class.

The P38 Pistol is One of 7 Sidearms in Battlefield 5

Alongside the different categories of primary weapon, every player also carries a sidearm. These have no class restrictions, allowing players to choose freely from the list; “In intense shootouts,” says DICE; “when there’s no time to reload your main weapon, you may only have a split second to make it out. That’s when you reach for your sidearm. Find your favorite among these reliable pistols and revolvers”. The full list of sidearms is as follows:

  • P38 Pistol
  • Ruby: Although the Ruby was developed for the First World War, it did not appear in Battlefield 1. This French pistol was decommissioned in 1958.
  • P08 Pistol: The P08 pistol also appears in Battlefield 1. There was an exclusive variant available in that game called the Red Baron’s P08. More commonly known as the Luger, this pistol is very well-known and has strong cultural associations with the Germans during both world wars. It commonly appears in films and other fictional works set in the period.
  • Repetierpistole M1912: Similar to the P08, the Repetierpistole M1912 appears in Battlefield 1, where it was available to the Support class.
  • M1911: Not only did the M1911 feature in Battlefield 1, but it has appeared in almost every Battlefield game to-date. This pistol was the standard issue sidearm for the US Army for a grand total of 75 years; from 1911 to 1986.
  • FP-45 Liberator: This pistol was developed by the US to disperse to resistance forces in occupied Europe. However, as the resistance groups who received them rarely kept clear records, it’s unknown how effective or widely-used they really were. Many were never distributed and were later used for scrap metal.
  • Mk VI Revolver: This revolver appears in Battlefield 1’s Apocalypse DLC.
