We are now into the third week of Overture, the first chapter of Battlefield 5’s Tides of War. That means there’s a new Chapter Event starting, and this week it’s the Battlefield 5 Vehicles and Classes event. Like the previous chapter events, Vehicles and Classes requires players to complete several different challenges to eventually receive a special reward item. In this case, that reward is the Selbstlader 1906, a new rifle for the Recon class.
How to Complete Battlefield 5 Vehicles and Classes: Challenges 1-4
Vehicles and Classes follows on from the first two Chapter Events in Overture; Attrition and Fortifications, and Squad Play and Reinforcements. To complete the Vehicles and Classes challenge, you’ll need to progress through a series of challenges. This week has more challenges than the last two weeks, and for the most part they offer a choice between vehicle challenges and anti-vehicle challenges. You don’t need to complete them all to unlock the reward; you just need to complete the right challenges to make a path from the first challenge to the reward.
- Fragile Structures: Every player must complete this first challenge to get started with Vehicles and Classes. All you need to do is deal 200 damage to vehicles, with any means at your disposal.
After you complete Fragile Structures, you have a choice between three different challenge paths:
- AT Infantry: If you don’t fancy using vehicles, this challenge requires you to deal 200 damage to vehicles once again. However, this time around the damage must be dealt using Assault equipment. With access to Sticky Dynamite, the PIAT, and the Panzerfaust, this shouldn’t be too tricky.
- Air Superiority: Alternatively, you can complete Air Superiority, which requires you to deal 500 damage while in an airplane. Any damage you deal in such a vehicle counts, be it with bombs, machine guns, or something else.
- Bird Hunt: If you’d rather shoot up at airplanes than pilot one, this challenge may be better for you. It requires you to deal 100 damage to airplanes through any means. The easiest method is likely to use an anti-aircraft gun, which are found on plenty of the maps.
How to Complete Battlefield 5 Vehicles and Classes: Challenges 5-8
After you complete your second challenge, you’ll find yourself in one of two paths. AT Infantry leads to Trouble Ahead and then Frontier Maintenance. On the other hand, Air Superiority and Bird Hunt both lead to Vehicular Dominance and then Single Sight.
- Trouble Ahead: After playing as an Assault for AT Infantry, you’ll need to switch to Recon for Trouble Ahead. This challenge requires you to spot five enemy vehicles using Recon equipment. This challenge shouldn’t require anything more than a Spotting Scope, and on a large map like Hamada or Panzerstorm, can probably be completed in a single match.
- Vehicular Dominance: Whether you piloted or shot at airplanes before this, you now need to use vehicles for this challenge. Vehicular Dominance requires you to capture 1 objective using a vehicle. Conquest mode is likely the best option for this, as there are plenty of uncontested objectives at the start of each match.
- Frontier Maintenance: Swapping classes once again, you’ll now need to play as a Support and repair 100 vehicle damage. The Engineer Combat Role is best suited to this challenge; stick close to friendly vehicles and it shouldn’t take too long to complete this challenge.
- Single Sight: Using a vehicle, this challenge requires you to kill an enemy from at least 50 meters away. Using an airplane might be the easiest way to complete this challenge, although long-range tank shells can also be effective.
How to Complete Battlefield 5 Vehicles and Classes: Challenges 9-12
Once you complete either Single Sight or Frontier Maintenance, the paths cross and you can choose to progress with either Perfect Placement or Armoured Might, regardless of which path you have been on until now. Completing Armoured Might will allow you to complete the Road Rage optional challenge, and both will lead to the final challenge; Mechanised Brawl.
- Perfect Placement: To complete this challenge, you’ll need to damage any vehicle using an Anti-Tank Mine. This gadget can be used by both Assault and Support class soldiers. If you don’t have it available, it may be quicker to complete Armoured Might.
- Armoured Might: Completing Armoured Might requires your squad to call in a Reinforcement vehicle. This challenge is most easily completed if you are the squad leader. If your squad leader doesn’t issue orders, bear in mind that repeatedly requesting orders can cause the game to make you squad leader instead. There are four different Reinforcement vehicles which you could potentially call in.
- Road Rage: You can complete this optional challenge by getting a single road kill with any vehicle. If you complete Armoured Might, completing this challenge can earn you some extra XP, but it isn’t necessary to do to complete the Chapter Event.
- Mechanized Brawl: The final challenge which you must complete to unlock the Selbstlader 1906 is to destroy 1 tank. This can be done through any means, whether you use a tank of your own or infantry anti-tank weapons.
