It’s been almost two weeks since the announcement of Battlefield V Battle Royale and still we have no credible information about the franchise’s new mode. In the wake of news to come, DICE assures as that the release of this new mode won’t mean that all the other modes will be less important.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is depending a lot on Blackout this year. Battlefield V, on the other hand, looks like a more “laid down” experience, made by people that want to just play the game. DICE still hasn’t given any news about Battlefield V Battle Royale but we already know that if it has vehicles and that World War 2 feeling then it will be a blast.
DualShockers talked recently with Senior Producer Lars Gustavsson, who among others, revealed that Battlefield V Battle Royale won’t influence other modes of the game:
“That it can be unique is probably what triggered our interest to start with. We were kind of inspired by what we played and lots of talks in the corridors about “we really should… We really should. We have so much in our Battlefield sandbox that would be such a good fit for this.” That’s where the conversations started, and it led up to the announcement”
“It is super-exciting and for us, Battlefield can do so much. Of course, doing Royale doesn’t mean that the traditional experience or where we constantly push forward disappears. Grand Operations will be there. The whole post-launch experience where players can play together and not divided by the pass. We want to take players on that journey through the war.”
For now, we can only speculate about the content of Battlefield V Battle Royale. For what it’s worth though is nice to see big franchises like Battlefield adapting to current trends without having to compromise other parts of the game that fans love.
