Battlefield V has been revealed last week but, unfortunately, we don’t have much information about its content. With “V” on its title possibly meaning more than just a Roman number, here’s some theories about the game’s setting.
First theory is that Battlefield V actually stands for Battlefield Vietnam, making it set in the Vietnam War. DICE has developed a Battlefield game set in Vietnam back in 2004, so this theory could be easily debunked, however, a new revamped title in the same setting, with more maps and content could actually make a difference in the “FPS AAA war”.
Another theory suggests that Battlefield V stands for the World War 2 iconic sign. The two-finger “V” gesture has been first used during World War 2 by a Belgian politician, even if we have it tied to hippies and peace quotes. The sign was used as a symbol of unity among the allied nations against Nazis so if the theory is true then we might be playing the game from the eyes of the allied union.
With past rumors indicating that Battlefield V might have a WW2 setting, way before its name and logo being revealed, it’s safe to say that this is a legit theory. Battlefield 1 shared the same pattern with “1” not actually being a numerization but a setting in World War 1.
Having its name as Battlefield 2 would be too obvious and fans would immediately realize that this is actually a World War 2 title. Battlefield V fits EA’s “hype” factor so we’ll have to wait until a first trailer for the game or some new reveals by EA and DICE. Whatever the case, Battlefield V will feature a strong campaign and realistic setting.
Battlefield V has been revealed last week but still has no set release date. If it follows the same pattern as Battlefield 1 then the game will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC through Origin.
