Battlefield V May Feature Weird But “Believable” Cosmetics

Battlefield V has been often criticized about its future use of vanity items. Given the fact that this will be the first Battlefield title to feature female characters and customization items, it’s only natural for fans to the skeptic about it. However, DICE states that all cosmetics in Battlefield V will be “believable” and even the craziest ones will have some historical accuracy to them.

In an interview published on the latest PC Gamer magazine (issue 320, August 2018), DICE Producer Andreas Morrell has shed some light on the customization matter in Battlefield V, stating that the game won’t be unrealistic in any way even if it goes to extremities:

It needs to be believable. It needs to fit with the era. We’re not creating a steampunk universe or anything like that. But if it was used, we can have it. Doing research for this, we stumbled across a guy called ‘Mad Jack’ Churchill, a British guy who was part of the Norwegian campaign. He was the only one who’s got a confirmed kill with a sword in World War Il. He used to go into battle with a bagpipe and a Scottish broadsword.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if we included a bagpipe as an item because there was one crazy guy who used it.

The Battlefield V Closed Alpha is now underway and the feedback on it is positive for the time being. Even players that have been discontent about the customization options in the title are now getting used to the idea of them not being entirely historically inaccurate.

It remains to be seen how all these customization items will be used in Battlefield V. For what it’s worth, the cosmetics won’t have an impact on major Battlefield events and tournaments, since DICE will implement a tournament switch, disabling all customization options to favor fair play and accuracy.
