Battlefield V has been a hot topic in the news recently due to its introduction of female soldiers, sparking the discussion of “historical accuracy” regarding that point, and various other mechanics in the game. It appears the Battlefield V subreddit has grown tired of constant “bitching” about historical accuracy, and has since posted a warning to the entire community that “it’s over,” warning that there will indeed be consequences for anyone who breaks the new rule.
“Admins can only keep up with so much,” the post reads. “We’re done wasting our time on this, every point has been made, no you’re not sexists or whatever, but this is just repetitive now.” It’s understandable, especially since this tired discussion has been raging on since the Battlefield V reveal, prompting not only folks to come out of the woodwork to complain about the game’s characters, but weapons as well.

“We get that y’all have valid criticism about Battlefield V and the customisation options within the game,” the warning post reads. “Sadly, this subreddit has proven to be unable to have a civil discussion about these things without devolving into name calling and slapfights.”
It’s a frustrating thing that folks should argue this much over something as simple as a video game that never claimed “historical accuracy” in the first place, but to get into name-calling and fights in a community based solely around the game seems bizarre in the first place.
You don’t have to look far to see the implications of the threads about this very topic in the community, nor folks complaining about a video game, complaints that won’t even be taken to heart or end up changing anything in the first place. Hopefully, as we march closer toward a release date for Battlefield V, this divisive atmosphere can calm down a bit, especially since the real reason to celebrate at all is that we get a new Battlefield game at all. Let’s focus on the positives, and try to get along, at the very least. It’s just gaming.
