One thing that Battlefield V will implement that its predecessors didn’t, is a lot of destructible buildings. Not only that, but Battlefield V will also give you the opportunity to do your own fortifications which will be extremely useful as bullets can now pierce through walls, like an official form of wall hack.
As DICE revealed, Battlefield V will have more destructible building and environments than ever, since Frostbite can now take the extra hit. That means that explosions are now much bigger and have a great impact, houses and small fortifications are not as safe as you might thought and you might have to build your own if you want to feel protected.
That doesn’t mean that you can build whole structures like in Fortnite though. If a house has been bombed or battered, you’ll be able to fortify it with tools in order to protect yourself from opponent fire. This is all happening thanks to each player’s tool box which is a new feature to the game as important as a gas mask was in Battlefield 1, as Daniel Berlin, design director at Electronic Arts’ DICE studio in Sweden revealed. This totally changes the traditional way you play in an FPS game, which is something that Berlin agrees to:
“You can close off entry ways, but someone can blow it up. It does change the gameplay completely and makes the world significantly more dynamic. It marries well with the destruction system.”
As we’ve seen from the Battlefield V trailer, soldiers that now rush into houses can be shot from outside the house as bullets can pierce through thin walls. Also, the environment is now interactive, which means that walking in tall grass etc can be seen by the enemies.
How do you feel about the new features coming to Battlefield V? Will the fortification feature change the FPS experience of the title?
