Sony didn’t have a formal presence during this year’s E3 conference, but it was still there in spirit. A lot of new games were shown during E3, and many of those new games are coming to the PlayStation 4 platform. In this roundup, we’ve gathered some of the coolest E3 games you should be eying if you’re a PS4 owner.
Upcoming PS4 Games From E3
It’s safe to assume that little (if any) from Microsoft’s E3 press conference will find its way to the PS4. However, the same is far from true for the E3 2019 Bethesda, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and EA press events. Some of the biggest upcoming titles from those respective publishers are coming to PS4 in the near future.
Watch Dogs Legion
The third entry in Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs franchise is set in an authoritarian post-Brexit London. Rather than control a single protagonist, players can instead recruit any of Legion’s NPCs into their personal DedSec squad. Each NPC has their own personality, voice, and skillset, ensuring that no two players will have the same roster. Players have to carefully manage their team, though, since full permadeath is also in effect.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order isn’t technically new, but E3 2019 marked its formal gameplay unveiling. The E3 gameplay demo showed off world exploration, narrative elements, and, naturally, plenty of visceral lightsaber combat. It’s still hard to believe we’re getting a single-player narrative-driven game in 2019, and from EA no less. Judging from Fallen Order’s gameplay, though, it’s likely best not to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Deathloop
We mentioned Deathloop before, but it’s worth mentioning again if only because of the pedigree of its developer. Deathloop is being made by Dishonored and Prey developer Arkane Studios. That means players can expect tight gameplay, stunning sci-fi visuals, and intense first-person action. We may not know how Deathloop plays yet, but we’re already excited for Arkane’s latest.
Gods & Monsters
Ubisoft closed out its E3 2019 press event with the unveiling of a brand new game called Gods & Monsters. Given its Greek Myth setting, Gods & Monsters is unsurprisingly being made by the same team behind Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Judging from early impressions, it sounds like Gods & Monsters will be more akin to Breath of the Wild. Players will create their own character before setting out into a vibrant world full of mythical beings and beasts. We haven’t seen any gameplay yet, but we’re excited nonetheless.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Similar to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 remake is far from new. However, Square made an impressive showing during its E3 2019 press event. The publisher unveiled new gameplay elements, story cutscenes, and more for the upcoming remake. Fans also got a look at the remake’s version of Tifa Lockhart and main villain Sephiroth. Lastly, Square confirmed the Final Fantasy 7 remake will initially launch in March of next year.
Marvel’s Avengers
With Final Fantasy 7 as its opener, Square Enix needed an equally big title to close out its E3 show. Fortunately, the publisher had just such a game in Crystal Dynamics’ long-anticipated Marvel’s Avengers. Along with a formal unveiling, fans got to see how Marvel’s Avengers will play and what its story will entail. Crystal Dynamics even teased the game’s co-op play and post-launch DLC roadmap which includes additional playable characters. Marvel’s Avengers may be separate from the MCU movies, but it still looks like a worthy successor to the films.
