Fallout fans may or may not have been left disappointed by the franchise’s latest outing. However, thanks to a new announcement, there may be something on the horizon for them to look forward to. Amazon Studios have officially acquired the rights to create a Fallout TV series. Plus, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy of Kilter Films, the creators of HBO’s Westworld, will be the show’s executive producers.
Amazon Studios’ Plans for a Fallout TV Series
“Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time,” reads a statement from Nolan and Joy; “Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios.”
According to Todd Howard, Bethesda has been looking for a way to bring Fallout to the screen for years. However, this is the first time that such a project has actually taken shape. The series will be produced by Amazon Studios and Kilter Films in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks. Heading the project are Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, both serving as executive producers, as well as Athena Wickham of Kilter Films. Todd Howard is representing Bethesda Game Studios, while James Altman will be representing Bethesda Softworks.
Kilter Films is perhaps best known for producing HBO’s Westworld, which has garnered 43 Emmy nominations, among numerous other accolades. Through their partnership with Amazon, the studio is also currently in pre-production for the upcoming series ‘The Peripheral’. Given that this is the very first announcement of this Fallout series, it’s likely that it could be at least a couple of years before the series actually makes it to screens. (If not longer.) As such, Fallout fans will have to be patient. However, there are no new Fallout games currently on the horizon; Bethesda’s next two games will be Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI, both of which are still years away. As such, it is at least something new for Fallout fans to look forward to.
