Bethesda has released the final Fallout 76 patch for the month of April; Patch 8.5. As the decimal implies, this is a smaller update than Patch 8, which launched earlier this month. However, it does bring some notable new things to the game. Most notably, the Fallout 76 Camera, which was originally meant to launch in Patch 8.
What’s New in Fallout 76 Patch 8.5?
Bethesda announced a slight delay to the launch of the Fallout 76 Camera earlier this month. The Camera was meant to launch alongside the Burrows PvE dungeon as part of that instalment of Wild Appalachia DLC content. The item is now available in-game, where’s its full official name is the ProSnap Deluxe Camera. The item can be equipped much like a weapon, allowing players to take photos much quicker than with the existing Photo Mode (although at the expense of the Photo Mode’s various filters and settings). The Camera also features a new quest called “Bucket List,” and new in-game Challenges.
The Fallout 76 Patch 8.5 is a relatively small download; just 2 GB for consoles and less than 1GB for PC. As such, it shouldn’t take long for players to download. In addition to the Camera, the update also makes some changes to Junk items. Specifically, Aluminium Oil Cans will now grant 1 Aluminium when scrapped instead of 1 Steel, and their value is now 13 Caps. Similarly, Aluminium Trays and Empty Cans now grant 2 Aluminium instead of Steel. Their value was 1 Cap, but is now 10 each.
Of course, Bethesda has also made a variety of bug fixes which feature in Patch 8.5 as well. Plus, they’ve added sound effects to the News Screen. The other big, and somewhat controversial, addition is that of repair kits, which are arriving in this update. Bethesda has come under fire for incorporating pay-to-win mechanics with these kits, although the studio took some time in the patch notes to address these concerns.
