Bethesda Announces New Fallout 76 PvP Mode Coming Early 2019

Bethesda has released a new entry in their “Inside the Vault,” blog series, hinting at upcoming content for Fallout 76. One of the most significant features which is said to be coming in early 2019 is a new system for PvP. It sounds as though this upcoming Fallout 76 PvP mode could remove the current strict restrictions on how PvP operates in the game.

Bethesda’s Upcoming Fallout 76 PvP Mode

The most recent Inside the Vault post mainly focuses on what’s coming for the game in 2019. Apparently, a major new patch will be coming in mid-January, for example; “we will be releasing another patch that contains many fixes,” says Bethesda; “including fixes for the Lever-Action Rifle reload animation, some perk cards, and we’re dealing some crowd control at the Whitespring by implementing a fix for the robots duplicating on the resort grounds.

Additionally, Bethesda plans to start putting developer notes and commentary alongside their patch notes from January onward. These should give fans more insight into the development process. This will also explain why certain changes are being implemented. The other major thing which is apparently coming in early 2019 is a new PvP mode. Bethesda has previously teased a “faction-based” PvP mode coming for the game; factions aren’t mentioned here, but it’s possible that the two modes are one and the same.

What is mentioned here is that the mode will be one; “where you can work together, or not, without PvP restrictions. We’re already having fun playing it at the office and we’re hopeful to roll it out to all of you sometime in the first quarter of the year”. It’s unclear whether this mode will be an in-game mode like Hunter vs. Hunted, or whether it will be an entirely separate way to play Fallout 76, with its own servers. Fallout 76 has strict rules governing PvP which makes it very difficult to kill people if they don’t attack back. As a result, some fans have called for more PvP support in the game. Bethesda appears to have taken note of that, but fans will have to wait until the new year before getting more information on this upcoming feature.
