Bethesda has been super supportive of the Nintendo Switch as of late, porting over some of their biggest titles to the hybrid console, such as Skyrim, Doom, Wolfenstein II, Skyrim, and even the free-to-play title, Fallout Shelter. Todd Howard, the executive producer over at Bethesda, was interviewed at Gameslab Barcelona by Eurogamer, where he spoke about Skyrim mods on Switch and the surprising success of Fallout Shelter on Nintendo’s console.
The creation club for Skyrim and Fallout 4 currently lets people download new in-game items, abilities, and gameplay created by Bethesda Studios themselves and other people in the modding community. According to Tom Howard, Bethesda isn’t working on bringing the creation club to the Switch anytime soon, as much as Howard “would love to see it happen.”
Mods are a huge part of the Skyrim community on PC, PS4, and Xbox One; years after the release, we still see the most amazing and sometimes comedic mods that seem to pop out of nowhere. Having these mods available on the Switch would be amazing to see, especially coming from Bethesda.
Todd Howard also spoke a little bit on Fallout Shelter and seemed to be very surprised at how well the game did on the Switch in terms of downloads: “Our Switch group did Fallout Shelter … and that’s done really well. I’m surprised at how well it’s done.”
Considering the success that Bethesda’s titles have garnered over the past few months, don’t expect for the support from the publisher to slow down anytime soon. Todd Howard also mentioned at Gameslab that Bethesda will not be bringing Fallout 4 to the Switch, but that other Switch titles are in the works from the publisher.
Have you guys picked up Fallout Shelter on the Switch yet? How do you guys feel about mods not coming to Switch anytime soon? Let us know in the comments section below, we would love to hear your thoughts.
