Beyond Skyrim Mod Project Announces “The New North”

Just days after the release of their first ever Development Diary showcase, the team working on the massive Beyond Skyrim mod have announced a new project; The New North. This latest mod will join the existing catalogue of mods which are already part of the overarching Beyond Skyrim project, many of which were recently highlighted in their recent video.

“The New North”: The Latest Mod for the Beyond Skyrim Project

Like many of the mods included in Beyond Skyrim, The New North takes a relatively unknown area of Tamriel as its setting. The mod is set in the regions of Bleakrock Isle and Sheogorad, both north of Morrowind. The area is evidently drawing inspiration (and assets) from the island of Solstheim, which was the setting for Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC. (And, of course, the Bloodmoon DLC released in 2003 for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.)

“Venture to the northern islands of Morrowind,” says the announcement trailer video description; “featuring Bleakrock Isle and Sheogorad. Experience new, fully-voiced quests, locations, dungeons, equipment, and more in this expansion mod for Skyrim.”

Beyond Skyrim the New North Announcement Trailer

At present, and like most of the projects in Beyond Skyrim, there is no release date for The New North. As a newly announced project, it seems likely that it will be a long time before it sees release; “We have no scheduled release date at this moment and have no plans to disclose one for some time. Stay tuned for more updates, livestreams, and beta testing in the meantime.”

Many of the current work-in-progress mods which comprise Beyond Skyrim have been incomplete for years, although some are now nearing completion. Although the project already includes a Beyond Skyrim: Morrowind mod, The New North evidently draws on a different cultural aesthetic. It’s unknown exactly what will be included in the mod. However, with the team planning to release more regular progress updates via Development Diaries; fans may get to hear about it sooner rather than later.
