The team behind the ambitious set of Beyond Skyrim mod projects have now released their latest developer diary; the first of 2019, which covers the last four months since the December diary. Moving from project to project, the video gives fans a quick look at what each mod team has been working on, from concept art to landscapes, settlements and more.
Beyond Skyrim Mod Progress Documented in Latest Developer Diary
Beyond Skyrim is the overarching name for a project spanning quite a few different mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The goal of the project, as the name implies, is to expand the game world of Skyrim out across Tamriel. As such, each of the project’s mods is working on a different region, from Elsweyr to Cyrodiil and even further afield to distant places like Roscrea and Atmora. At present, the mods are all currently in development, though some are now starting to near completion, as the new video shows.
Starting with Beyond Skyrim: Morrowind, the developer diary skims from mod to mod, giving fans a chance to see what the modding teams have been working on. While some are still clearly in the early stages of development, with more concept art available than gameplay footage, some are much further along. Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil, for example, seems to be coming along very nicely, with an emphasis on complete interiors and landscaping. Similarly, the section for Beyond Skyrim: Roscrea showcases a whole town; the settlement which players first arrive at.
As one of the largest and most ambitious mod projects around, the Beyond Skyrim team are going to a lot of effort to make their work as immersive and detailed as possible. As such, they have quest writers, voice actors, and composers working on the upcoming mods. Indeed, some of the original soundtrack can be heard throughout the developer diary. For now, none of the Beyond Skyrim mods have official release dates. As such, fans will have to wait to see what the final products will look like.
