Been waiting impatiently for the next installment of the Call of Duty series? Black Ops 4 is being developed by Treyarch, and will be released on October 12th (that’s right—not November) for PS4, Xbox One and PC. And now we’ve got something awesome to show you … the Black Ops 4 logo!
There are a couple of variations on the design:
Right off, you might notice something kind of funny about the Black Ops 4 logo, and that is that Black Ops 4 is being stylized with “IIII.” Technically, if we’re sticking with Roman numerals, it should go I, II, III, IV, not “IIII.”
Is it merely a stylistic choice, or is there some deeper significance to the “IIII” symbol? It is way too soon to tell. But it certainly seems possible that it could allude to something else with the game.
Then again, Black Ops 4 is apparently not going to have a single player campaign mode (which is not at all surprising, given that other game modes have risen in popularity over recent years), so it’s not as if it could involve storyline. We’ll just have to wait and see.
