Another Black Ops Cold War Double XP Event Starts Tomorrow

Due to the recent delay of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Activision – and the complaints regarding XP gain – Treyarch pledged earlier this month to hold a few extra double XP weekend events before the new release date. The next of these events, and likely the last before Season 1 releases, will be starting tomorrow on the 12th of December.

Earlier this week, Treyarch rolled out an update to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, addressing a whole host of issues and balance changes. In addition, the update added several things to the game to thank players for their patience following the delay to the start of Season 1. The first of these were two free bundles which players can claim simply by logging into the game, and the other was an upcoming 2XP and 2WXP event.

That event is due to start tomorrow, on the 12th of December, and will be live until the start of Season 1 on the 16th. “We’re also bringing an extended 2XP + 2WXP Weekend to everyone in MP and Zombies this Saturday, Dec. 12,” writes Activision; “until the start of Season One! Here’s your last chance to reach Prestige 3 and earn those Prestige Keys before Season One begins.”

Earlier this month, Activision promised to run at least a couple of extra Black Ops Cold War 2XP events prior to the start of Season One, as a way to help players catch up on XP. When the game first launched, there were widespread complaints from players that the game required too much grinding to gain XP. Treyarch improved the rate of XP gain in a patch, but the 2XP events serve to help players catch up for lost time prior to that patch. This will be the last of these bonus events, ending with the launch of Season 1 next Wednesday.
