When Season One launches for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on the 16th of December, the game won’t simply be getting new Operators, new weapons, and new maps. Zombies fans are in for a seasonal treat as well, because Treyarch will also be launching two new Zombies modes; Cranked and Jingle Hells.
New Zombies Modes: Jingle Hells & Cranked
The first of the two modes is Cranked, which is a relatively simple mode variant. Cranked increases the stress and tension of each round by adding a countdown timer which resets whenever you score a takedown. If the timer ever hits zero, you explode. The mode also features a ‘Cranked’ power-up which will give players a temporary reprieve from the timer. However, while Cranked is certainly interesting, the other mode is much more distinct.
Entitled ‘Jingle Hells,’ this new seasonal mode will only be available during Season One, over the winter. The mode features a holiday-themed redecoration of Die Maschine and even its undead denizens. “This limited-time holiday mode turns ‘Die Maschine’ into more of a winter wasteland than a wonderland,” writes Activision; “and there’s plenty of cheer to keep you in the yuletide mood.”
To heighten the holiday spirit, there are a few other special features of Jingle Hells. For instance, players will have access to a few unusual feative weapons, including snowballs. While they might not sound powerful, these snowballs can be used to freeze enemies in place, allowing you to kill them to gain special ‘present’ drops. In addition to “stocking power-ups,” the map also features snowmen which can be broken open to reveal other power-ups and rewards. It’s currently unknown exactly how long Jingle Hells will be available to play. However, it’s a safe bet that it will at least be available until early-to-mid January.
