Later this week, the launch of Season 3 in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will deliver new weapons, new Multiplayer maps, and more to the game. As to be expected, a big portion of this new content will be coming to Black Ops Cold War’s Zombies modes in Season 3.
Black Ops Cold War Season 3: Outbreak & Onslaught
Outbreak is set to gain a major update at the start of Black Ops Cold War Season 3. Available at launch, Duga is the next stage of the Dark Aether story; a new region in the Outbreak mode, set in the Ural Mountains. Duga will actually also be launching as a Multi-Team Multiplayer map later in the season. As such, playing the Outbreak mode will give multiplayer fans a sneak peek at what to expect.
Outbreak is also getting a range of other smaller additions at the start of Season 3. Two new vehicles, for example, will be appearing in the mode; the Cargo Truck and FAV. The former may be slow, but has the capacity to transport an entire squad, while the latter is a fast-moving buggy. Alongside the new vehicles, Outbreak will also be getting new World Events. These will occur in-game, giving players the chance to earn special rewards; “upgrades for the D.I.E. Machine Wonder Weapon, […] the powerful Aether Tool item […], the secret to warping ahead to higher difficulty regions even faster,” and so on.
Finally, more Outbreak objectives will also be available in the mode. Season 3 won’t be adding any new objectives to the existing set, however. Rather, the Defend, Retrieve, and Holdout objectives have been added to new regions which previously didn’t support them.
Onslaught, the PlayStation-exclusive Zombies horde mode, is also getting a small content expansion in Season 3. The mode will get support for the new Yamantau map, as well as the Standoff map when it launches later in the season. Activision has also stated that a limited-time Onslaught mode will be coming mid-season too.
