Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan Will Reportedly Star in Rainbow Six Film Adaptation

Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan, known for his onscreen portrayal of villain Killmonger, is reportedly set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of Rainbow Six. There are actually two movies currently planned for release in the future, one of which is an adaptation of the original Tom Clancy novel and the other of which is based on the prequel novel Without Remorse.

There have been rumors and plans for Rainbow Six films in the past but it seems that they are finally going to happen. News of this comes via Variety. The set of movies based on the same book series that the games like Siege are will begin with the prequel film Without Remorse. Michael B. Jordan will star as protagonist John Clark in the movie.

Jordan is also reportedly a producer for the film adaptation alongside Josh Appelbaum and Corrin Nemec. The prequel Rainbow Six film Without Remorse will be then followed by the adaptation of the original 1998 novel. However, the main producer on the series will be Akiva Goldsman, executive producer of the upcoming DC’s Titans TV series.

Paramount Pictures will be producing these first two Rainbow Six movies. It remains to be seen if more of the dozens of Tom Clancy novels featuring John Clark will also get subsequent film adaptations. Though we don’t know if these reports from Variety are true just yet, we do know that the Tom Clancy novels have found major success as video games.

Ubisoft has published more than a dozen video games in the Rainbow Six series, beginning with the very first one in 1998 for Nintendo 64, PlayStation One, and SEGA Dreamcast. The latest in the series is Siege, which has a strong and dedicated player base that is keeping it going very strong in the online shooter community.
