Blizzard Reveals New Details About the Overwatch 2 Campaign

Overwatch 2 was announced during the BlizzCon 2019 conference earlier this month. A lot of new games were revealed in this event including Diablo 4, and the next installment to the Overwatch franchise – Overwatch 2. The major difference between Overwatch and Overwatch 2 is the PvE and story campaign. In the current Overwatch, we only have PvP game modes (with some limited-timed events featuring PvE experiences) such as Quickplay, Competitive, and Arcade. But if we talk about Overwatch 2, we’ll have a brand-new story campaign that’ll unravel the perspectives of multiple Overwatch heroes.

In an interview with Game Informer, Lead Writer Michael Chu details about the story campaign and what to expect in Overwatch 2. Right now, we don’t have any clue when this new sequel will be releasing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or PC. Blizzard did comment on this matter saying that there is a long wait for the release of this title. Here’s what Michael Chu said in the interview:

In Overwatch 2, players will take on the roles of the world’s heroes in cooperative missions that challenge them to team up, power up, and stand together against an overwhelming outbreak of threats around the globe. Players will also battle each other in the next evolution of competitive Overwatch play, which carries forward existing players’ accomplishments and loot collections and features the current complete Overwatch roster, a new generation of heroes, new internationally recognizable maps that widen the scope of the world, a new Push map type, and more.

Recently, game director Jeff Kaplan commented on the length of Overwatch 2’s story campaign saying, “[It will be] a complete story experience like you would expect from any AAA blockbuster game.” What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments!

Overwatch was released on May 24, 2016, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Overwatch 2 doesn’t have an exact release date at this moment but is expected to hit the consoles and PC in 2020.
