Bluehole has announced a new event mode, the PUBG Ghillie Crossing event. The event will be taking place exclusively on Erangel and will be featuring melee weapons and crossbows only, so stealth and surprise are the names of the game. The event will be starting today and ending Sunday.
In addition to being limited to melee weapons and crossbows, players will have a good chance to find ghillie suits alongside the usual loot, which will make you even harder to spot in the wider game. Combined with the silent quality of crossbows, this will make you a terror, that is, if you can find a suit.
The PUBG Ghillie Crossing event will be changing up the game in big ways; not only will it be much more stealth-focused due to the exclusive focus on melee and crossbows, but there are also a number of other stipulations.
For starters, as said before, only melee weapons and crossbows will be available as weapons, making the game much more stealth-focused and “firefights” (for lack of a better term) much more tense. Ghillie suits will also force you to keep a close eye on your surroundings, because if an attacker is wearing that they will be much more difficult to spot.
Along with the Ghillie suit and crossbow equipment, you’ll also have access to a number of other pieces of loot, including 2x, 3x, and 4x scopes, grenades, consumables, and other attachments. However, you won’t be getting any care packages, so you’ll have to deal with what you can find in the world.
In addition to only having two different kinds of weapons, you’ll have to walk everywhere. Fitting with the stealth aspect of the PUBG Ghillie Crossing event, there are no vehicles on the event map, so it will not only take you longer to get anywhere, but you’ll have to do it fast. The blue zone’s damage will be exponentially increased as the endgame approaches, so as the game drags on you’ll take more damage if you’re caught outside the circle.
On the upside, you’ll know where to go no matter what, as the initial safe zone will always form around the center of the map. You also won’t have to deal with running out of an area to avoid artillery, as red circles won’t be part of the game mode.
The PUBG Ghillie Crossing event will, once again, only be available on Erangel, and take place from today, May 24, to Sunday, May 27, so you won’t have much time to take part. It’s also only available on the PC.
