Gearbox recently released a new episode of The Borderlands Show, and while it covered a range of upcoming content, the headline feature was certainly the reveal of Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption; the next Borderlands 3 story DLC expansion, following on from Guns, Love, and Tentacles. The new DLC, which includes a new planet, new enemies, and new mechanics, is set to launch on the 25th of June.
The Borderlands 3 Bounty of Blood DLC
“You’ll travel to the harsh desert planet of Gehenna to claim a bounty on The Devil Riders,” explains Gearbox; “a vicious gang of bandits mounted atop fearsome beasts. The Devil Riders have been terrorising the small town of Vestige, and you’ll have to team up with the locals if you want any hope of administering some frontier justice.”
Alongside its new Devil Rider enemies, Bounty of Blood boasts a new type of vehicle; the Jetbeast hoverbike. “Every Western needs its horse,” explains Matt Cox, Creative Director on Bounty of Blood; “For the Vault Hunter, it’s the Jetbeast, which is half jetbike, and half creature”. Of course, the DLC will also feature plenty of new loot and Legendary gear for players to find amidst the wastes of Gehenna. The DLC also includes a new environmental addition; plants which provide a range of gameplay effects. The Breezebloom, for example, will lift players up to access new areas, while the Traitorweed can turn enemies into allies, at least for a short while.
Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption will be launching in one month’s time, on the 25th of June. During the Borderlands Show, Gearbox also released a concept art teaser for the fourth Borderlands 3 DLC. For now, it’s unclear what this DLC will be themed around. However, the concept art does feature a masked face which looks very much like Krieg, the DLC Vault Hunter from Borderlands 2. Given that Gaige already made her return to the series in Guns, Love, and Tentacles, it’s certainly feasible that Krieg could reappear too.
