Gearbox may have only just launched their latest Borderlands 3 story DLC, Guns, Love, and Tentacles, but it seems that they have no shortage of plans for new events. Not only did they launch the Takedown Shakedown event earlier this week, but today they launched two more events; the Door Buster mini-event, and more notably, the month-long Borderlands 3 Co-op Loot Drop event!
The New Borderlands 3 Co-op Loot Drop Event
Takedown Shakedown and Door Buster are mini-events which will only run for the next few days. Co-op Loot Drop, on the other hand, is a much larger affair. The event went live in Borderlands 3 earlier today as part of a hotfix and will be live throughout April. As for what the event entails, it’s relatively simple; all Badass enemies in Borderlands 3 will drop extra loot. However, this boon will only apply while you’re playing co-op with at least one other player. This will impact the entire game, including both the new DLC content and everything else.
Gearbox has dramatically increased the number of in-game events in the last week, seemingly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As more and more people are either under quarantine or self-isolating, more people are likely to be gaming, and it seems that Gearbox wants to give them an incentive to spend that time playing Borderlands 3. In fact, Gearbox plans to start; “layering shorter events on top of the Co-op Loot Drop all month long,” starting with Door Busters. When that event ends on the 2nd of April, it will be replaced with a new event almost immediately.
Finally, Gearbox has also decided to send all of the seasonal themed items which were available during the Bloody Harvest and other holiday events to everybody who missed them during those events. These items, which include a level 57 version of the Juliet’s Dazzle Legendary Assault Rifle, will appear in players’ mailboxes sometime before 8:59 AM PDT on the 30th of April. It’s currently unknown exactly when they will be sent out.
