Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright and Sir Hammerlock – the evocatively-titled second major Borderlands 3 story DLC, is now available to play on all platforms. The release adds a whole new planet to the game, along with new enemies, and plenty new story content for fans to play through. Plus, the DLC arrived alongside a major free update which, among other things, raised the game’s max level to 57.
The Borderlands 3 Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC
Following on from the December release of Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, Guns, Love, and Tentacles is the second of four planned story DLCs for Borderlands 3. Like the first, it adds a whole new area to the game; in this case, the frozen planet Xylourgos. It also features a range of new enemies, including both Xylourgos’ native fauna and its deranged inhabitants, and plenty of new story content. Like the first DLC, the new content doesn’t require you to have completed the game’s main story first.
Alongside the new DLC, Gearbox has also rolled out a major game patch which addresses bugs, makes improvements to stability, and more. Perhaps most notably, the patch increases the max level of the game from 53 to 57. Importantly, this means that players will now have enough points to get two capstone skills in an endgame build, instead of just one.
For now, it’s unknown what Gearbox has planned for the next story DLC after Guns, Love, and Tentacles. (Although the sole teaser indicated that it will feature dinosaur-riding outlaws…) The game’s Spring 2020 roadmap features a range of new content coming in the next couple of months. These include the upcoming Mayhem 2.0 overhaul, Revenge of the Cartels event, and an all-new Takedown. In fact, on the subject of Takedowns, the studio recently launched a new “Takedown Shakedown” event, which is live now in Borderlands 3. Players should enjoy it sooner rather than later, however, as it will be ending on the 2nd of April.
