As part of their presentation today at PAX East, Gearbox has officially unveiled the second of the four planned Borderlands 3 story DLCs; Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright and Hammerlock. Set around the wedding of the titular characters, the DLC looks set to feature a splash of Lovecraftian-esque weirdness and an all-new planet; Xylourgos.
The Borderlands 3 Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC
“Sir Alistair Hammerlock and Wainwright Jakobs are finally tying the knot,” writes Gearbox; “and they want you to come celebrate their upcoming nuptials on the ice planet of Xylourgos. Those adventurous lovebirds have chosen a venue that’s as exotic as it gets; the frozen wastes of Xylourgos have thinned out all but the most vicious wildlife, and the eerie town of Cursehaven where you’ve all agreed to meet is located beneath the colossal carcass of a fallen monster.”
Not only will the upcoming Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC focus on Sir Hammerlock and Wainwright Jakobs, but there is also a familiar face from Borderlands 2 returning; Gaige. The DLC Vault Hunter, along with her robotic companion Deathtrap, are back. Indeed, it sounds as though she will be a key quest-giver in the upcoming DLC. (Gearbox has revealed that Gaige is serving as the wedding planner.) This would, in many ways, mirror the role of Timothy Lawrence from the first story DLC. Lawrence served as the players’ primary quest-giver and contact aboard the Handsome Jackpot.
Of course, the DLC also features a whole host of new enemies. These include a bizarre cult which worships the corpse of a Vault Monster, whose members seem to have all manner of tentacular mutations. Beyond that, Gearbox haven’t revealed many other details about new loot or other content. However, more details will likely arrive as we get closer to the release date; the 26th of March. Of course, this DLC is one of the four packs included with the game’s Season Pass and the Super Deluxe Edition.
