With the second story DLC now less than a month away, Gearbox today rolled out their first batch of Borderlands 3 hotfixes to launch this month, following last week’s patch. In addition to general bug-fixes and the like, the patch makes changes to several Vault Hunter skills. Plus, it includes buffs for no less than 10 different Legendary weapons.
What’s New in the March 5th Borderlands 3 Hotfixes
When it comes to Vault Hunters, Gearbox is mostly focusing on Moze this time around. “We took a look at some character skills that were occasionally not properly reporting what was happening in-game,” explains Gearbox; “For these instances, we have updated the description text to show the actual in-game values and removed an instance of a penalty that was not reported on its skill description.”

Firstly, this impacts Moze’s Hell on Rails skill, which had been showing +30% Fuel Drain instead of +8%. Her Corrosive Sabot Round skill had also sometimes incorrectly shown -50% Railgun damage and Fuel Drain, instead of the correct -33%. Finally, her Active Tracking skill was imposing a -50% penalty to damage per missile and ammo capacity. (Despite this penalty not being included in the actual skill description!) Fortunately, this penalty has now been removed.
When it comes to weapons, ten different Legendary weapons have gotten some tweaks, following on from last week’s adjustments. According to Gearbox, this is to get some weapons “up to par” ahead of the launch of Mayhem 2.0. The Firestorm, Krakatoa, Nine-Volt, Smart-Gun, and Storm have all received a damage buff. The Sickle, meanwhile, has gotten both a damage and fire rate buff. The Thunderball Fist now does better damage on both the Initial Shot and Thunderball. The Hellshock does more damage and also now fires 2 projectiles per shot. Finally, Crader’s EM-P5 now does +80% damage while airborne, and the Faisor has higher damage, 8 projectiles per shot (up from 6), and increased reload time for the under-barrel shotgun.
