Two months ago, Gearbox announced that Borderlands 3 would be getting a next-gen upgrade, to take advantage of the new hardware capabilities. Available for free, the upgrade’s release dates were announced last month, and it will be launching alongside two new editions of the game; the Ultimate and Next-Level Editions. Now, Gearbox has announced the official global release schedule for Borderlands 3 on next-gen.
Borderlands 3 Next-Gen Release Times
“Get ready for some next-level mayhem!” writes Gearbox; “Here’s when Borderlands 3 releases on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. PLUS, we’re releasing Designers Cut November 9 at 5am PT so you can get in on the action even sooner!”
The Borderlands 3 next-gen upgrade, Ultimate Edition, and Next-Level Edition will be coming first to the Xbox Series X/S on the 9th/10th of November. The exact global release times by region can be seen above. The PS5 versions of Borderlands 3, meanwhile, will be releasing in a more staggered set of dates. This is because the PS5 itself will be launching on the 12th of November in some regions and the 19th in others. Once again, you can see the exact release dates and times below.
While existing owners of the game who buy a next-gen console can simply download a next-gen upgrade for free, new players have two more options; the new Ultimate and Next-Level Editions. The former is Borderlands 3 together all the current content, all Season 1 and 2 DLC add-ons, and various bonus cosmetic packs. These include the Multiverse Final Form cosmetics, designed for next-gen. This version is available on both current- and next-gen consoles, as well as Steam, Epic, and Stadia.
The Borderlands 3 Next-Level Edition, meanwhile, is simply the core game plus the Multiverse Final Form cosmetic pack. It is only available digitally, and only on Xbox and PlayStation. Both of these new editions will be available from the 10th of November. (Although the PS5 version will be launching alongside the console a few days later.)
