The Latest Borderlands 3 Patch Adds Support for the Upcoming DLC

The first full Borderlands 3 DLC, Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, is now just a week away from release. In preparation for that, Gearbox today released a general Borderlands 3 patch which, among a range of fixes and tweaks, implements DLC support for the upcoming Heist. Alongside all this, the patch introduces a new Hotfix Menu to the game, so that players can see recent hotfixes in-game.

Borderlands 3 Patch 5 with DLC Support

The only piece of new content included in Borderlands 3 Patch 5 is DLC support for Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot. Of course, the DLC isn’t available in-game, but this lays the groundwork for it to launch smoothly on the 19th of December. The rest of the patch focuses on a variety of tweaks and fixes, including stability improvements. This patch doesn’t feature any changes to the four Vault Hunters or to guns this time around; rather, it targets bugs and makes general backend improvements.

Among the general Borderlands 3 changes is the addition of vending machines to Skywell-27; something which fans have been requesting. Other changes include disabling access to Photo Mode during the Fight For Your Life state, along with the addition of a new Hotfix Menu. Menu performance has been improved in a variety of places, including the Inventory Menu, and the Guardian Rank Menu. Be sure to check the full official patch notes if you want to see if any specific bugs have been fixed.

Borderlands 3 Patch 5 Launched DLC Support

In all likelihood, the purpose of today’s Borderlands 3 patch is to address as many general issues as possible ahead of the upcoming DLC release. The launch of Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot is likely to bring plenty of players back to the game at once, and so cleaning up lingering bugs is a priority for Gearbox, who will want to ensure that people can access the DLC without problems.
